The Types of Sedation Used in Dentistry

When your dentist needs to carry out a treatment other than cleaning and scaling your teeth, you will be offered some form of sedation. The type depends on the complexity of the procedure and also, your personal level of comfort with the whole dental process. The levels and forms of sedation are: – For mild sedation – oral sedative pill or nitrous oxide gas – For moderate sedation – intravenous sedation – For heavy sedation – general anaesthetic or analgesic sedation. “Sedation dentistry is a safe and quickly evolving procedure that has shown to alleviate the dental fear and anxiety in patients.”    ]]>
