General dentistry is an umbrella term that covers all the treatments that a general dentist and hygienist are qualified to carry out. These treatments focus primarily on general oral health as opposed to restorative treatments which focus on repairing, re-building or replacing problem teeth.
General dental treatments include fillings, check-ups, assessments, fissure sealants for children, hygiene appointments, periodontal treatment and minor oral surgery.
General dental appointments don’t focus just on your teeth. Routine check-ups with your dentist involve a thorough assessment of your gums, inner cheeks, jaw, neck and tongue. For any specialised treatment, your dentist will be able to refer you and create a treatment plan to address the issue. However, being a specialist referral centre, all our patients have the benefit of seeing our specialists, consultants and experts – all under one roof.
You can either self refer here or ask your own dentist to be referred to us here.
We find that it’s best for you to arrange to see your dentist every six months. However, every smile has its own unique needs. We may need to see you more regularly if you are currently having specific treatment, such as teeth straightening or any on-going restoration work, to keep an eye on your progress.
If your smile is perfectly healthy and you’re doing a great job looking after your teeth and gums at home, we may only need to see you once a year.
As with your routine dental appointments, we believe it’s best to see a hygienist every six months. Plaque build-up is a continuous issue and requires regular removal to keep your gums healthy. Some patients are naturally more susceptible to gum disease (bleeding, bad breath etc) than others and may need more frequent visits.
In some exceptional cases, the best course of action for your general oral health is to remove a tooth. Here at TwentyOneDental, we have leading digital implant technology which provides absolute precision when placing the implant, leaving absolutely no room for error. Dr Asani who leads our specialists, consultants and experts is a highly regarded implant surgeon, providing exemplary outcomes for all his patients. Replacing the tooth once it has been removed allows us to use the natural gap left from the tooth root, leading to a much less invasive procedure. The implant also has a higher chance of fusing to the bone. And to assist with a much faster and less painful patient recovery, using the latest technology in PRGSF assures our patients of the very best outcome.

Absolutely not. We start from scratch with every new patient, whether you are choosing us because you recently moved to the area or wish to get back on track with your dental maintenance. We completely understand that some patients avoid visiting a dentist due to nerves around dentistry as a whole. We do all we can to make the experience as comfortable and reassuring as possible.
Toothache is a clear sign that there’s an issue. It’s best to get in touch as soon as you can and arrange an appointment so we can have a look. In the meantime, painkillers such as paracetamol can help manage the pain.
If you are in a lot of pain, we have emergency appointments on hand. Call our practice to be seen as soon as possible.
